About Us

Stop the Executions

In the wake of the fraudulent June 12 election in Iran, the peaceful Green movement has developed.  These protesters, originally seeking to reclaim their votes, have been subjected to arbitrary arrest, violence, and torture at the hands of security forces in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Now, the cold blooded execution of peaceful Iranian protesters has begun.  Already, eight have been put to death and at least sixty-three more political prisoners face the possibility of execution. As of June 9, 2010, Amnesty International recorded 115 executions. This serious crime against humanity must be stopped.  Western attention has had a positive impact in similar situations in the past; Newsweek reporter Maziar Bahari, released after four months in Iran's notorious Evin Prison, reported that his treatment improved immediately after United States Secretary of State Clinton mentioned his case publicly.

Concerned citizens have committed time and effort to informing the world about the atrocities in Iran.  Many organizations and individuals have campaigns to speak out against unlawful executions. The aim of this site is not to formulate our own projects and take away from the great work others are doing.  Our goal is to collate information and connect people with the multitude of resources available, so that they find the projects that make the most sense to them.  By doing this, we hope to further motivate people to take action against human rights violations in Iran and to stand in solidarity with the peaceful Green movement.

Many of those detained, condemned, and executed in Iran are not given any means to defend themselves against charges.  Prisoners have been denied legal representation, forced into confessions, and intimidated by torture and violence, or the threat of such against their families.  With focus on the Islamic Republic of Iran's violations of international law and standards, we seek to provide clear information and sources for further reading and action.  Although some of the condemned may be guilty of the charges levied against them, we do not believe that execution is an appropriate form of punishment in any of these cases.
